It works exactly as described, it's just an odd skill.
Tested it using a guild scrimmage. One member of the opposing team had Defiant was Xinrae, and I brought Mind Burn and the Mage Henchmen who also had Mind Burn.
The Mage Henchmen used Mind Burn on the opponent and it disabled Mind Burn off of my skill bar. I even have a FRAPS video, though it's a bit too large to host yet, and google video really drops the quality down too much for my taste.
In my opinion, it's not a bad skill, per se, but it's reliant on your foe packing multiple copies of the same spell AND using it on the ashes holder.
25 energy and an elite slot is a bit of a stretch for a 'what-if' situation.

Thanks for that confirmation! I agree with you about the situational nature: it'll ruin single-line spikes, but the 25 energy and an elite slot is pretty hefty for that, unless you KNOW you're going to be targeted. It doesn't need any points in the right attribute for this use though, so it might be some use for 2ndary rits if you are a key target.
I imagine it'll be most useful in PvE though, where you get mobs all with the same skills.

It reads enemy spells. That means all spells used against you will be disabled for X amount of seconds more. So like you tested if some1 hits you with Mindburn all Mindburns are disabled for X seconds more. But this applies to all and any spells being used against you. Am I correct, or am I misunderstanding this discription?

This spell (ash?) obliges opponents to treat you as if you had a Spell Breaker on you.
Right now, many players ignore the anti-caster effects and will continue casting on you, disabling slowly their own skillbar along with their teammates' ones... but eventually people will get used to it and then : it'll be as if you had a SB.
I find it a bit expensive, though. I guess ANet will lower its cost to 15.

But the character itself would have to be enough of a threat to warrat a team pickign them out for a spike. If it starts becoming common, you'll just see teams not casting on the Ritualist if they see the skill being used.
It's definitely got potential, but technically so do Backfire and Spiteful Spirit, their downside is they rely on the fact that the other team is going to mess up and cats through backfire, or attack through SS, or continue to cast on the Ritualist.
Eventually I think Defiant Was Xinrae will end up like one of those. You might get someone who casts through a backfire once, or takes a few swings with Frenzy and SS up. Likewise you might get a few spells disabled because you have Defiant Was Xinrae up, but it's not going to be a powerhouse, just something that stops players from targeting you for the time being.
I think this

The difference is that you have no idea what ashes the Ritualist has; whether it's Difiant was Xinrae or Cruel was Daoshen etc etc.
If a bloodspike targets the Rit, and one casts just a fraction early, then the whole spike is disabled if it works anything like Blackout/other skill disabling things.

it could replace the sb/infuser. Well, rspike would still ruin you, but maybe you could have a mo/rt with Defiant Was Xinrae and infuse health?

Until it let non-target AoE effect (hitting by firestorm that wasn't targeted for you) by this too, I believe this is nearly unusable.
